The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition), the AIM's “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983) and Stannard do not list any variations not already covered by Nick.
Houghton's variation 27a-3 looks highly implausible: blue cab, blue trailer, silver trim, 7.5 x 18 MW, f/h, c/a, but with braces to the trailer. However, this variation is also listed by Leake ("Concise Catalogue of 75 Series Matchbox Toys by Lesney" (4th edition, reprinted 2006)) who gives enough information to be able to identify it as a type 3 trailer casting (i.e. mixed small and large brace). If confirmed, this should be added to the table as variation code 3.
U.K. Matchbox examined the model in vol. 8 no. 4 (Oct. '83) p 144, but did not identify any new variations.
