SG-2 Skateboarder 'Steer-n-Go'
Does anyone know if this was ever produced, or does someone have one? Took this photo from the 1979 trade catalouge.
Thanks, David

Re: SG-2 Skateboarder 'Steer-n-Go'
As far as I know it was never released but came very close to being released. Some of the last Steer'n'Go cars sets used the yellow and blue consoles. I have a set like this.
The photo shown is from my pre-production catalogue which shows a number of items never produced but as this item got to the catalogue stage they must have pulled the pin on it. Much the same as the Motorway set from around this time that was shown in the catalogues.
I would say Lesney would have been taking a hard look at finances at his stage as we all no what happened a couple of years later!!!!! Cheers, Steve

Re: SG-2 Skateboarder 'Steer-n-Go'
I agree with Steve, I do not think it was marketed and the only example(s), are those seen in catalogue pictures. The toy could have been popular as it is only a version of the normal 'Steer-N-Go' unit so the electrics and mechanics would be the same, just the outside look and colours are different.

I googled Matchbox Skateboarder and this came up, not sure if they are anything to do with the set or not.

Thanks for the information. Going on from this, do you think this figure is pre-production/prototype?
It was in with a small quantity of plastic components that came from a ex-lesney sales rep.

It could be, here is a detail from the main picture to show the skateboarder.

Re: SG-2 Skateboarder 'Steer-n-Go'
totally radical!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.
