GPW and BPW instead of SF

Post by Ecclesley »

Although I have a few models (Rolls Royce) with SF wheels, I must admit I am not a fan of such wheels. In fact when Superfast and Whizz Wheels were launched many years ago, I lost interest in those cars. I am old school and prefer the regular ones. So glad that Oxford Diecast is producing models with proper wheels.
I had an idea to swap SF for GPW and BPW and see how that works out, here they are.

I like the Yellow convertible, because the wheels with their Silver Painted centre make it look so much like a Corniche. The Blue saloon looks ready for some Off-roading with the chunkier wheels.

Yellow convertible looks very much as I would imagine a rw trial of this model would look made in 1969 using hubcap wheels and the yellow available from the retiring 38 Victor - very nice indeed!

Thanks Kevin. One of the problems with this model is the fact that the rear wheel arches have been enlarged in such a way
that any type of wheel, other than SF, will booze away in that large space. Filling it up with a type of wheel, having a near similar SF diameter, like the grey one I used, probably gives it that off-road-ish look you are mentioning.
Therefore the 24c with the chrome hubs (see pic) is much more to my liking if not one of my greatest favorite models.
Personally I am dubious about the result, I like it, I don't like it. Maybe a set of black wheels would do better.
I will see.
