I have to been quite honest about something. I am not a serious model collector or aficionado (unlike the rest of you clever chaps!) and I joined the ‘Vintage British Diecast Forum’ simply to seek information, advice and help about various models from my late Fathers collection which I have, very sadly in many ways, decided to dispose of (it’s impossible to hang on to everything). So I’m selling mainly on ‘eBay’ – but various other sales sites as well. So, I have to confess that my motives for joining the forum were somewhat selfish, albeit with very genuine and sincere intent and respect.
I have found the help from your members not only very obliging and beneficial but also very friendly – and accurate. The support and advice I have received has been valuable, honest and effective.
And I have to say this starkly contrasts with some other (antique type) forums (something I do take a great interest in and know a bit about) whereby there often seems to be a quite bitter rivalry, even bitching and arguments between members. Not fun.
So, I take my hat off to you ‘Vintage British Diecast Forumers’ for being, quite simply, jolly nice decent fellows. I am impressed to the point I have become seriously interested and have trawled this website and become very absorbed - I have read numerous other topics and debates; for no other reason than I like the friendliness – and often humorous ‘banter’ and merriment between members.
I’m even becoming a bit of an expert myself now (NOT!), ha, ha! Maybe one of these days I’ll pluck up the courage to ‘stick my ore in’ and comment on somebody else’s post. Even if it’s only to say ‘seconded’, ‘thirded’ (Fifthyed?).
Thank you again for your help gentlemen, it is most appreciated.
