Corgi (blue) & Husky (red) collector traveller cases

Post by SMS88 »

Anybody else here have one of these? I wonder how common they are - I have only seen this one in the catalogues but have seen at least one red Husky version before. Not in the range for very long, this very cleverly designed case was aimed for use with both the 3 inch toys and the 1/43 range

Small cars would rattle about in the 1/43 sized storage bays but perfect for traveling with some of each!

Have had a few of the Corgi Toys edition over the years and have one -shop stock fresh- with
outer box in collection. They came up regularly at the bay in used condition.
Most of them missing the -bridge- (or ramp) to drive over the outer rim and many missing
the small shell logo top on top of the service station.
Have bought a few used ones over the years, that came with those collector cards! Very htf.

The red Husky version is very htf and i have only seen 2 over the years.
I mean not the collector carry case, mean the travellers case with the service station inside!
Its similar vhtf as the 3 storey car park in Husky or Juniors edition and similar vhtf as the
Huskyville buildings! Perhaps all blown up in the 1969 factory fire?? Who knows....

Like your pictures with the mercedes sl...........

Forget to mention:
It sounded in your posting like the blue Corgi Tourist and the red Husky Travellers Case are the same dimensions!?!?
These are very different in size and the Husky one was a smaller version of the Corgi Tourist.
So the Corgi Tourist was sized for the 1/45 scale range and much bigger in dimension.
The Husky travellers case was half of that size and made for 3 inch models!
Nearly same size as the Husky collectors case!

Dear mr goodies thank you so much for your post and information , I gather you are the same gentleman who provided so much material for bill manzke book , I would like to see your husky pre production models if ever you felt like sharing the joy of your collection . As a new member to the forum I collect husky and matchbox and seek the husky case and playmat and car parking station and any husky building , I live in Australia and husky items were limited by the local woolworths stock at the time , so the gift sets and larger items never made it to Australia , also matchbox had a very strong customer base , and sold particularly well . Thank you again and all the other collectors for your contributions . Best wishes andy

Not many serious Husky / Juniors collectors around, mostly Matchbox guys.
I collect Husky / Juniors for now 30 years, starting in the 80´s in England at toyfairs and always bought the unusual.
So many things only seen one time in this period and its hard to find Husky here in Germany at toyfairs.
I provided Bill with much material, mostly pictures. The list at the back of the book was started by Dr.Force and so
much information has to be overworked now. There are variations inside this list, you´ll never find!

I have many pre-produtions and colour trials and only show a few in Bills book. Much stuff came after
the book release, found a few guys from the Mettoy factory and the design department who had stuff and
stories! Had contact to Marcel van Cleemput and also some stories there! So much infos waiting for a new book,
but time will strike against that big work. So respect to Bill´s work!
Will try to show something here next....

Give me a mail via my website oldtoys.de. Iam sure, i have Husky collector case and playmat somewere!
Most of the nicest Husky sets never shown in any catalogue or publication. The big farm set with 2 buildings not only
exist in Corgi Juniors form, they made it also as Husky first!! Also Husky (!) construction set was never shown, same as
garage with 2 construction vehicles and many more.

Have fun

Hi Wolfgang.
I am primarily a Matchbox toy collector but I can appreciate Husky, Rockets and CJ's. I only collect small scale toys and although Matchbox takes the pride of place I still can't leave a nice Husky toy when it surfaces, Please show us more of your collection.
