Husky / Corgi Juniors by Mettoy
#64a Morgan Plus 8
(Rockets 921)

The Morgan Plus 8 joined the Corgi Rockets range as #921 in 1970 and was always packaged in the standard generic Rockets blisterpack. All except for factory colour trials were painted solarbrite red with black seats and all were fitted with 12.5 x 4mm 5 spoke wheels with the earliest runs having plain black wheels and the 1971 production having them hot foiled.
The baseplates were initially made without any patent number cast and plated, however most had the patent number and the final relatively scarce runs in 1971 had white painted baseplates.

The Morgan Plus 8 joined the Corgi Juniors range in 1971 for just 2 years and was only packaged in the short Whizzwheels picturecard blisterpack unless issued in a giftset. Initial production was in bright lemon yellow enamel with black seats, plated baseplate and hot foiled 12.5 x 4mm 5 spokes fitted with a race #20 sticker only on the front passenger door, the side that faced outwards on the blisterpack, a common economy measure on 1970s Corgi Juniors!
This yellow issue also can be found less commonly with 10 slot 12.5 x 4mm and can be with or without the sticker which peels off very easily.

In 1972 the Morgan was recoloured dull red enamel with the same sticker, black seats and plated baseplate, most common with the 10 slot wheels but also issued in lesser numbers with 5 spokes, always hot foiled.
Both Juniors and Rockets Morgans are often found today without the steering wheel which comes off very easily and can occasionally even be missing sealed in the blister, a factory error!
