Husky / Corgi Juniors by Mettoy #2a Citroen Safari
|
|
The Citroen Safari took the #2 slot in the launch of the Husky range at Woolworths stores in 1964.
It was always packed in the generic red on white blisterpack.
All were painted vanilla, a colour which some collectors regard as very light green and others as very light yellow so to avoid confusion it is logical to compare this colour to the world“s favourite icecream flavour. All featured untinted glazing, yellow plastic seats and a chrome plated plastic baseplate with fragile leaf suspension.
A reddish brown boat was mounted on the roof, this was easily lost and all Husky & Juniors civilian Citroen Safaris used the same boat molding so swaps can happen once the blister is opened. As with all the original range launch models , 9 x 2mm solid gray plastic wheels were fitted. The master model for the #2a was retooled 6mm longer with a metal baseplate in 1967 as the #2b.
