Husky 10a Guy Warrior Coal Truck by Mettoy

Husky / Corgi Juniors by Mettoy
#10a Guy Warrior Coal Truck

The Guy Warrior joined the Husky range right from the launch in 1964 - the pre-pro yellow colour is only known from promotional photos. The 10A first release was red and had a black plastic coal load however aside from colours it is identical to the 13A Guy Warrior sand truck released a couple of months later.
There was one obvious casting change, the cab rear corner windows were glazed on early production but filled in or flashed over about halfway through the life of the red versions and on all orange production. Standard small 9x2mm gray plastic wheels were fitted to all red examples made & into 1969 when the first orange recolour run was produced.

In 1969 when all solid gray plastic wheels were being phased out, 11x2mm black plastic tyres dished on one side for a plated inserted hubcap improved the looks of the subsequent orange production runs of coal trucks with Husky baseplates, blanked with Corgi Juniors stickers baseplates and moulded Corgi Juniors baseplates, the final red painted Juniors 1971 version which certainly lingered in some shops into 1972-73 when the diecast market was flooded.

Smooth diecast metal hubs with plastic tyres were fitted to some of the Corgi Juniors examples when the hubcap wheels were out of stock.
All issues featured blue tinted glazing. All red Husky issues were packed in standard red top Husky models blisterpacks as were some in orange.
Yellow Husky blister packs were used for the final Husky issues in 1969.
All Corgi Juniors issues were packed in collector picture card blisters without WHIZZWHEELS branding.
