Re: monkeys
I bought a rather tatty one for a quid last week so it became a donor for painting as per the real Monkeemobile .....
The gold decals were sourced from the MPC 1:24 kit. For some reason that kit has decals that are too small and too large

That is a good looking restoration and the faded plating on the engine could have been replaced by using the 'Alclad II' method which entails removing the old plating from the Corgi engine moulding by dipping it in household bleach, drying, spraying with Alclad II Black and when dry, spraying of Alclad II Silver which when dry gives an absolutely stunning 'Chrome' effect finish. I would Google ALCLAD II CHROME SPRAY and see some of the results.

This auction just ended. Absolutely mint. A nice return on the nine bob (45p) initially paid.

The real one is still occasionally seen at old car shows. I took this photo about 2 years ago.
