Lovely
I was a 70s kid and most of my toys were Corgi and Matchbox. The few Dinkys I had were pretty unimpressive (to me at least) Bedford CF van, TR7 and Mini Clubman with those awful 'speedwheels' or what ever they were called - they looked like flattened Rostyles. I did however have a Foden tipper and it made up for the shortcomings of all the rest, it saw lots of outdoor 'quarry' use without complaint, losing it's plastic light bar and tailgate in the process. Much to my regret I sold it about 10 years ago in a 'clearout' and have wanted to replace it for about 9 years and 364 days.
The tanker is gorgeous too - proper successors to the 50s and 60s Fodens and Leylands and the last 'proper' Dinky toys in my book. I am very happy indeed

Hello Ewan, I was a seventies kid as well, but don't remember seeing you there...
One of my favourite Dinky toys was the big blue, white and yellow Mercedes-Benz truck and trailer, it had fabulous suspension on all axles, opening cab doors and a roof mounted air-vent that pulled up a little way to let out the smell of all those burgers truckers live on!
This really was an excellent toy, huge scope for carrying old damaged cars in the load areas and for many years, I was a trucker, driving this thing all over my Mum's table and I know I learnt some of my driving skills from this toy, that set me up for when I became a real truck driver, great stuff.
Sadly it went with all my other toys when they got stolen from a garage lock-up and I have not really been able to replace them, far too many.
Regards,
GHOSTHUNTER.

Having consulted with my family it would appear that I wasn't a 70s kid after all. I was born in the 70s and am still a kid
