63b "Foamite" Crash Tender

Post by Diecast »

So I have checked my 63b and sadly I could not found any model with BPW ø12x45  (it would be probably a miracle). But, there were some details, which I had previously overlooked, and now they caught my attention.
When the base plate type 1 was changed to base plate type 2, a relatively long text "CRASH TENDER" ,originally placed perpendicularly to the axis of the model, was moved. Then probably were added the angeled braces and the moved text interfered with the new braces. You can see some trace from the moved text near the braces. Then the text "CRASH TENDER" was moved back.

Hi Antonin, nice photos, I will check mine. I do recall posting a photo on the old forum of the perpendicular wording and it reminded me of the Austin Radio Truck.

I would think it is more likely a poor casting than a new code.

Hi Antonin, I've just checked and I have a few with the "ghostly" words, but none with the die problems (and of course none with the special wheels :D )

Hi John
I have the "ghostly" words only on the later base plates. I have no base plate type 1 with "ghostly" words. Do you have the same experience?

Hi Motorman
It could be poor casting also (what is very probable). It depends, if there will be more similar casting.

Hi Antonin, yes this appears only on my later ones. If I remember correctly, there weren't many responses on the old thread, but regularguyuk (is he on the new forum?) checked his and he too had this on a later model only.
