Post by mike »

Interesting collection of my son Nico.
The 8 cars are in a metal box.
Is there more information on this?

Thank you Nico :D

Hello Mike & Nico,

Your cars in a tin were made in China by 'HASBRO' around 2010-2011. They were actually blister card mounted like recent 'HOT WHEELS' and 'TYCO-MATCHBOX'
models.

The subjects to be modelled include U.S. cars, European cars, (Alfa Romeo etc) and British cars, (Vauxhall Calibra etc).

Nice picture of your secretary at the desk.... :)

While those models may have been distributed by Hasbro in some markets (I do not know that for sure), they are obviously Realtoy castings. The same Realtoy castings were (and still are) also sold under many other distributors' brands, as well as in Realtoy's own Action City packaging.

The "Track Stars" series in particular was commissioned by an Australian company called Asia Pacific Agencies Pty Ltd. It was first issued in 2003 and lasted until about 2008.

And by the way, the Vauxhall Calibra is far from being a British car. It was manufactured in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and Uusikaupunki, Finland (by Valmet). The DTM version as modelled by Realtoy was made in Germany and was usually branded Opel, not Vauxhall.

When the models are new on their 'Blister cards', the 'HASBRO' logo appears on the bottom right corner, but not neccesarily on the models themselves, yes, they probably are not the true, manufacture of them, but would have commissioned them from someone else, the company mentioned by chfalkensteiner.

2003 is the start date of this product line and several 'themes' have been put together, F1 style race cars, German DTM race cars and others and marketed well into 2011.

Sorry about the Vauxhall name, that is only used for the U.K. market, I should have realised the models in that set were more likely to have been made as the Opal version, thank's Christian,

P.S. I must just add, that the F1 style race cars are probably based on the U.S. Indy car series.
