Vintage bus lines
Vintage bus lines
Having read some of the older posts i thought that Mr Manzke would like to see some of the US range that he may be familiar with that he may remember from when he was American Corgi collector club director that i have collected.

Re: Vintage bus lines
While I like Buses I probably would not buy any of that particular Corgi model, but when seen as a collection like that, I can fully understand the attraction they have and the display does help.
Re: Vintage bus lines
They do indeed make for an impressive display. I don't recall having seen one of those Greyhound Scenicruisers on the road...but I'm thinking one of them would make an interesting RV conversion.

Hi Ghosthunter
True they are on the large side at between 9 inches and 12 inches long but you collect what you collect.
The shop display is from 1999 and it has taken me untill this year to find one as being cardboard and mostly for the USA would be recycled (distroyed) not saved .
Hi squid
They do make good RVs and quite a few both RV and restored Scenicruiser go to bus shows in the US.

Nice collection of model buses! Yes it does bring back fond memories of my time as the American Corgi Collector Club director. At one time I had all of the Scenicruisers in my collection, plus many of the Fishbowls. Most are gone to other collectors now. I am nearing retirement, and they took up too much room!
At the beach, counting down to retirement.

Hi Bill
Glad you still have fond memories of that time .
Yes they do take up a lot of room but I decided in 1996 to collect the complete series ,little did I know it would be 125 models by 2010 when Hornby cancelled them
Mid year ( Hornby purchased Corgi Classic's in 2008 ) but still used the mould for premium models .
Bill you say that you had all the Scenicruiser's was that 12 or 13? as there is one that I have never seen except in a catalogue.

Hi Diecastmolester
Have you spotted the change in the casting between the pinstripe and the whale Trailways ?.
The first two models issued in 1994 #98462 Greyhound (A&B) and #98465 Trailways have no lugs to attach the mirrors ,all yellow coach models after 1994 had the mould
changed to include lugs for the mirrors .
