How do you put a value on this without the man.

I assume that you're referring to the pre-Matchbox soap box racer.
Really, the only way to work out what such an item is worth to to find a previous auction and adjust the hammer price for condition and elapsed time. However, exposure (i.e. publicity) also plays a part, and a desirable item badly advertised and/or in an obscure auction will often fetch well below what it would have done if sold by e.g. Vectis.

I paid 400 quid for mine but was covered in grey paint. Managed to remove all of it and it left 90% of the original paint and then I picked up a driver from a toy soldier dealer for 50 so lot cost me 450 quid - a bargain. This is what I ended up with

Yes, I understood the question, but you try and find a racer on it's own to provide a comparison!

Here is the soap box racer any thoughts on its value?
