The Very Best of 2020
The Very Best of 2020
As for each of the last three years, there will be no 'End of Year Poll'. Instead, Members are once again invited to use this thread to show their two most significant finds/acquisitions of 2020 to the Forum. (Please keep it to only two since this will help to maintain quality and also prevent the thread from becoming overly long.)
Re: The Very Best of 2020
I guess I'll start the show. Nothing Earth-shattering here, but significant to me nevertheless. The first is one I've presented before, my Corgi Mini Magnifique; it's the nicest vintage piece I've ever owned.
The second is a 5E Lotus Europa. It's a crossover piece with a window rivet hole and no rivet in the body.

For me it would have to be the Yesteryear 1920 Rolls-Royce Fire Engine...https://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.u ... 310#p89636 The earliest full production example you can have.
This has a unique rear body section casting, impossible to fake and fitted with 24 spoke Cross-Wire wheel rims.
These are extremely hard to find and usually very expensive when you do! Another gem for me is the Dinky Toys Phantom V with the family saloon car wheel rims instead of 4he normal larger diameter rims. Ghosthunter.

Not so much for what they are, as for what they cost as they were hidden in plain sight in a job lot at an auction.

Here's one of mine. (I need to have a good think about the second model.)
It's not much to look at, but it's a variation I've been after for a long time: the first casting of the 20a without the brace between the cab and the backboard.

Thank you for showing this 1st casting Hugh, it is another 1st casting model that eludes me.

That’s a great find. I’ve been looking for one for ages with no success!
