Just received this model. At first look I thought that it is repainted model because of slightly glossy color and silver painted details. Then I saw not painted base so it catch my attention. Windows are missing (never be there, were not be riveted). Model looks like that some parts were not sprayed and additionaly repaired by brush it can be seen on the wheels and some parts of unpainted baseplate. So some error model? No! model don't have any braces between platforms and fenders + you can see throw sides. Rear panel sides are thin then on normal models. Does anybody saw this casting?

Excellent find - a really nice prepro! The open chassis rails are a very nice feature.

Yes, that's odd, and so is the lack of glazing. But the body casting has some major differences around the chassis rails - these two open spaces, and the lack of supporting verticals over the mudguards. I have no doubt it's a prepro.

I think the paint on the tyres can be explained by the touch up that can be seen on the barrel. If you look closely you can see where chipped paint has been over painted. I would think this has been done quite innocently by a previous owner unaware that this is a very very early casting. I would not be concerned about the extra paint and I do like the unpainted base plate. I have never liked the glossy paint on the base of this model and especially the concrete shoot.

I am very interested in seeing another angle ( perspective) view of the base to see how the area where the text MADE IN ENGLAND BY LESNEY may have been altered.

I have attached a pic of my earliest no tow guide/no brace behind cab model as a guide if you are happy to take another photo.

Such a pity the concrete shoot is missing on this one but I love it and congratulations on adding this to your collection. It will sit nicely alongside your green Dodge tractor unit.

I like the fact that the previous owner has mixed a batch of concrete in the barrel. :D :D

Yes a great find and thanks for showing us on here, I love unpainted castings and would be very happy with this in my collection even though its just the base.

Hi Bert, yes of course here is picture of the base, your base is not the first one, first one is without straight brace under rear axle.

And another thing what I saw now, the base is not reinforced on sides:

And thanks to remember the green Dodge that model is perfect.

This year is my THE Best in collecting, so many gems came to me:
0453a.jpg
- 3x 15a Prime Mover - unpainted models
- 28d Mack Dump Truck - PRE-PRO
- Y10c Rolls-Royce - PRE-PRO
- Y11b Packard Landaulet - unpainted, unrivet model with Color Trial seats
- in one lot I get 2x Y6B + 2x Y10a (green Bugatti is PRE-PRO, blue one has standard base and body but wheels from RW 19c, 52a or 73b; Mercedes have unpainted base and not the standard wheels from the same models)

What a great selection and as you say a fantastic group of models, I wondered who got that 28d. J
