My apologies to Hugh (who provided the 59a that's missing in the photo) as the Singer Van is still in the Paint & Body shop. The 59a is the last needed model to complete this set and since it wasn't ready I decided to finish up the display stand today. I had to see how it looked with models on it and decided to take a pic and share it. I'll post another pic when the Singer Van joins the group.

The #59 Singer Van is out of the body shop and has joined the others to complete the display. This sure beats paying $1,500.00 for Hardy's G1.

The latest display stand design might be a decent enough design that others find it interesting as well. In the short time it has been displayed, I have received numerous request to purchase an empty stand.  Making one stand was a little trial and error experiment  to come up with the right size, appropriate artwork, etc.  It took a fair amount of time and energy.  I suppose that if I crank up a mini assembly line of stands I can reduce that labor time by a significant amount.

That means, I've transitioned into woodworker/graphic artist (if I may be so bold as to use that last term) and away from antique model restoration (the latter being a passion for me). While I enjoy fine woodworking, cutting two rectangles of two different thickness of plywood hardly qualifies. Decisions, decisions, I don't even know what a fair price (for both maker and buyer) would be for such a thing.

If you are one of the wonderful collectors that have contacted me about this stand: Please give me some time to consider the ramifications involved in the project of making more of these in a small quantity.  If you think you might enjoy one of these yourself, please let me know as it will be easier to set up and make several at one time VS creating them on an as needed basis.

It sold within a few short hours of being listed. Obviously, the stand itself (sans models) would have a reasonable price as there is very little expense in materials (and 95% labor).

I like it a lot - it’s a great way to display the models, and it’s not pretending to be the original item. I think we all collect differently and this is a lovely piece of nostalgia, bringing a real sense of the past but at a fraction of the price of originals. It’s also without the responsibility of looking after rare and valuable ancient cardboard. I think Joe’s recreations and restorations are amazing and I’m sure they’ll be collectors’ items in their own right.
