Lesney models of yesteryear

Post by Albo »

Hi all, I have a number of Lesney items from a family collection that I’m looking to sell. One if the items was in a ‘models of yesteryear’ box described as a Y-9 Fowler big lion showman’s engine. Thing is the engine looks similar to the one on the box but doesn’t have a canopy and it doesn’t look as if it ever had one! There’s no inscription on the engine apart from ‘Made in England by Lesney’ and despite searching around online I can’t find one that matches the one I have anywhere! Grateful if any one could throw any light on this mystery engine!!! Pictures attached. Thanks!

This is a 3rd party retouched and altered model.

Oh right, thanks for that!
Do you think it’s the Y-9 Fowler big lion showman’s engine but with the canopy removed?

Yes. It's had quite a lot removed to convert it to a road loco.
