Here is a detailed look at some play sets from 1972.
Part of Lesneys diversification strategy to recoup losses from the superfast change over of 1969.
These set consisted of colorful cardboard play environment with items form other product lines like the superfast track sets.
The 1972 collectors catalog lists the play sets at 99 pence each but by January 1972 these sets retailed for 1 pound and 5 pence according to the price list.
P-1 was the Stunt Car Set.
Unfortunately my set didn't have the red MB 13 Baja Buggy.

Re: Play Sets From 1972
Here is P-2 Sky Busters.
The original Sky Busters set before the name was used for the die cast airplane series which is still going today.
1972 was also the launch of the Gidaglida, see the Matchbox Action 1972 catalog. These became part of this play set and as far as I know were dropped from individual
release. Again parts were used from the superfast track set series.

Re: Play Sets From 1972
The last in the set P-3 Load - A - Vator.
As with the P-1 Stunt set three Matchbox 1-75 series vehicles were included in this set. Of interest is the MB 51 8 Wheeled Tipper, it was never fitted with any labels. So if
you one of these in your collection then there is a high chance it came from the P-3 Load - A - Vator set.
Hope you liked seeing this series of play sets that were only around for two or three years so not that common. The P-2 Skybusters set is the rarest set for obvious reasons
with the Skybusters series starting up in 1973.
