First run trial seats without location spigot. Some black streaks.

Very nice find and makes you wonder how many dies were made for the seats or how many times did they work the dies to end up with the seats fitted in full production models.

Very nice gift from a fellow collector. I have similar seats for the Y6 Cadillac, Y14 Stutz & Y15 Packard. The Cadillac seat has the spigot, but no roof attachment pins and has been shown on here before. That one came from the same source as the Benz seats.

The Y14 Stutz seat doesn't have the floor and transmission tunnel moulded as the production examples do. No location spigot either.
The Y15 Packard example in black has no location spigots, or floor detail. The red example has both these features. Note that neither of them have the roof attachment pins added as initially the roof was designed to be attached to cast body pins.

Being aware of the details pointed out by Bob is in the knitty gritty area of Yesteryear collecting and while we can all enjoy the very common models for what they are, it is the preproduction models that really excitte us and throw up some wonderful details.
