This popped up as recommended on Youtube ... a little blast from the past featuring a young Stirling Moss.

I didn't know a jacket and tie was required dress for slot car racing.

Those slot cars are huge compared to anything that was sold and run back in the day in the U.S.
My local neighborhood hobby shop had a drag strip where you could come in and race two cars against each other. Further across town there was larger slot car track where multiple cars could race on a course. The race course got so busy on weekends and after school hours that you had to sign up for track time, sometimes several days in advance. Nothing I ever saw, during the slot car craze, was anywhere near the size of those in the film.

In Europe the models were 1/24th and 1/32nd scale while in the US Aurora developed the 1/64th scale which is still popular today.

All mine where 1/24 from USA apart from the scratch built ones..Revell,Cox,Aurora and The evil La Cucaractha that was banned in our local races..I bet one of you had one hey?
