Maisto "Herbie"

Post by Tinman »

This casting cost me .89 cents at the local drug store. I've never seen a Maisto VW in a light color, only dark colors. After stripping the paint and putting it in white, I now see why they mainly paint it in dark colors. The body style in relation to USA 1:1 market VWs would be a 1971 or 72 Super Beetle. The casting is detailed in some areas and crude in others. The head lights look like they came off the front nose of a 1950 streamline diesel passenger locomotive. The window insert fits poorly and I had to re-shim the "suspension" to keep it from having a rear end that was all jacked up in the air. I think I'll stick to buying them to steal parts from and not bother with using them for much else.
