Worrying development - my family forced me to migrate to a smart 'phone and, within a wee, Ebay sent a voucher to my 'My Ebay' offering money back if I make a purchase using the Ebay app!
This can't possibly be sheer coincidence, so how do they know that I've upgraded to a modern 'phone?

Because your browser told them what your device is and what operating system you’re using... which is generally quite helpful, because it helps websites display pages properly on your device. Here’s a website that will show you what all websites can see when you visit: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/. eBay tracks everything you look at, to offer suggestions of what else might interest you. I’m often told about items that are finishing that I’ve looked at but not put on my watch list - but only if there are no bids at all.
