12c No Luggage Landy Sneak Preview

Post by Tinman »

This is a sneak preview, it's not done yet. I still have to clean up the axles and detail the front end. I feel safer at the beach already!

They already had the little green row boat that could have gone on the roof or it could have towed the boat & trailer they were making (twin pack).

Joe, your modelling skills are up there with the best so it is unlikely you will get any negative views or comments while on this forum and it is nice seeing a stream of such high quality projects. They are a credit to you.

That looks wonderful, but it's a shame that the boat covers up what a neat job you did on the Landy's roof! Where did the boat come from?

It came from a modern Matchbox release called the Rapids Rescue. An odd truck where the boat sits on top of a large bed and the bow of the rubber boat is wedged between two dual exhaust stacks that rise up behind the cab. If the rig was real, the boat would be ruined in the first minutes of it's first trip. Still, it's a nice job they did on the Zodiac and the model cost eighty five cents (USd). As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it just to steal the boat for a project.

Below is a pic of the model without the boat, you can see what I mean about the dual exhaust. That big blue thing in the bed is what the boat snaps down on. The boat was the same baby blue as that mount, a terrible color for a rescue boat. I had to paint the boat and detail it. I've saved the truck because I'm considering stealing the bed for use on another project. If I get two models out of one truck the parts will have cost me .45 cents (right in line with my zero dollar budget for such things) :D

Answering another question from a PM: Yes, that's the same set of windows (from the model in the before pic). I washed the window insert and soaked it overnight in undiluted Simple Green cleaner (to remove the paint). Then I polished them out with polishing creme and the Dremel.
