The incomplete model number on the base gives this Preproduction status. Are the other blue models the same.

Yes they are. They are in development sequence too. There are differences in the running board moldings primarily. All these have the short bonnet although the new addition doesn't have the apparent gap to the radiator that the others do. The reason is that the running board/ rad surround component (all one piece) is incorrectly located too far back on the chassis. I have a bare metal model that precedes these, which has different body and chassis castings. I'm sure it's been shown on here before.

Hi Bob,
Do any of your blue Bugatti's have rubber-type vinyl black running boards instead of solid plastic? We had a pre-pro like this that we sold to a collector friend and I thought it was another interesting bit of development trivia.

Yes, these are very early test shots with no location lugs on them. When this problem arose, small lugs were added, but these also failed so the lugs were enlarged for full production.

The composition of the material may have changed during the evolution of the component.

1st test run of body/chassis components. The body was altered considerably.

Bob's Picture (Bob 1), with the paper clip does make this component look quite flexable so I imagine it must have been changed for full production models where it seems to be more like a harder Nylon based compound.
