Hi all,
Had this for years, maroon not red, never was sure...........

Very interesting and nothing obviously wrong with it! (On my monitor, it looks more chestnut than maroon.)
Which variation code is it?

It does look a very dark colour , a bit like the Y7-1 Leyland lorry. I thought I could see traces of paint on the pin that retains the escape wheels but I think these were painted in-situ anyway.

Could this maroon/brown be caused by heat exposure or other enviromental factors which would also cause enamels to show much more gloss.If u look at the underside,u would notice that the paint is a dab lighter.Note the easy scratching-off of the paint by somebody without leaving any scoring,gouging etc (as far as i can see) as which would normally occur in other castings with similar baked enamels.Also note the large paint chipping in odd areas on the whole casting.Have u noticed the distinct color variation on both the ladder wheel spokes or could it be the angle or flash.

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies, it does vary to a brown shade, and there is a noticeable darker shade on the ladder wheels, also there is still some gold trim on the hose reel which looks original. I think it is original paint, but if it wasn't painted this colour something very strange has happened to it to alter the shade, maybe chemical exposure.
On the other hand I thought it could be a run through the paint process after a brown / black run when the gun wasn't cleaned properly?

Sadly I only had an electronic copy of Stannard and it was lost when my old PC died, so I don't know what code it is.
