I would like to share a picture of my MB29 Racing Mini with door detail. This is one of my favourite Superfast models!

The Racing Mini is one of my favorite Superfast models. It looks even better with the door lines, hinges, and handles cast in!

A nice looking racing mini, which is a lovely Superfast model.

It's strange that such an iconic British car was modelled so late by Lesney. (The first Minis were sold in 1959!) It is a shame that it when it did appear, the model was far too wide (in order to fit on the Superfast track), and also lost the door details (so that pointless labels could be stuck to the resultant smooth surface).
I do wonder if this was on the drawing board as a new RW model when the decision to introduce Superfast was made.

My thoughts exactly. (Though they did model the Morris Minor somewhat early on.) The labels that appeared on production models could have easily been tossed aside in favor of roundels, which would have allowed the door detail to remain intact. It may well have been in the planning stages before Lesney shifted to Superfast.

Strange that Lesney would design the model as lower and wider than the real mini and call it the racing mini if you couldn't race it on Lesney track sets. I don't think the mini was included with any of them?

Can I ask what track it does not fit on?

What a stunning model, my one has a few paint chips but I still think its a cracking model.

What I meant was that the model is far too wide for its length, but that extra width was solely necessary for it to fit properly on the Superfast track.

Thanks for that.
