Insuring of your Collection

Post by hydra427 »

As we all grow our collections I am wondering how you insure your collection. I have talked to several insurance companies and the only way they will insure my collection is if I have it appraised by an expert in the field. I know most of it would be covered under my homeowners insurance but what about those rare models that are next to un-replaceable?

Thanks for looking, John

same here and in Holland there is only 1 such person !
Also , I live with several people in my house (no family) . If you want to insure the.collection then you have to lock the door of your room every time you go to the bathroom etc.
Impossible to live that way.

Many of us ARE the experts of what is in our collections and the 'Other' so called experts will just consist of staff from the well established auction houses who in my experience know very little unless its printed down on paper in front of them (Ramseys etc)!!!
