Accessory Pack No2 The cracks are showing.

Post by misterpop »

Just got out a couple of Bedfords to list on Ebay and find the trailers have both got longitudinal cracks running down the chassis of the trailers..Is this normal ?,has anyone else found this weird happening.I know there are a few code 3 transporters on here and wondered if they had found the same thing when stripping them of paint..

I checked mine too, early and later versions, and there's no sign of any cracks.

If it is a crack I would expect the length to increase over time but you would have to keep them and monitor the length. The area involved does not look to be a particlarly stressed area so wondering if the metal surface has been like it from new and its only the paint now showing fatigue through old age but there is something going on with the metal at those points for the paint to decide it needs to seperate at the area. making it look like a crack.

Thanks for checking. I'll freely admit to being extremely surprised by your answer. (My thoughts on this thread were that the cracks were most likely some kind of surface effect/imperfection.)
I'll have a look at mine tomorrow. In the meantime, did these two examples come from the same source? Could it be that they are both 'seconds' (in as far as Lesney's poor quality control would catch anything like this), or could they both have been subject to some kind of environmental extreme?
