6a quarry truck colours

Post by DrJeep »

Hugh alerted me to this pair, on which the tippers were obviously different colours in the listing photograph. Might the darker one be the elusive blue-grey colour identified by Hugh and Antonin here?

Well, the colours are obviously different, and perhaps the darker one has a hint of blue? But actually, I think the darker tipper is the normal colour, and the paler tipper is the interesting variation. Here the paler tipper is flanked by two darker tippers, and I have a third this colour too.

So, does anyone else have the paler tipper? Is this normal for this variation, which has the long axle brace and small rounded corners, making it Antonin's code 1, I think.

Given the vagaries of digital cameras and computer screens, I think the only way to resolve this would be through a direct 'in the hand' comparison. however, it is clear that you have a distinct colour difference there.
