It's going to be restored as soon as I learn a method to remove the 'diamonds'.
It also has glass inserts as taillights.

The only method I had worked out for a similar situation was once the model is apart, gently drill behind the light units until you touch the plastic holder for the jewel. Then with a small steel rod, push the lights out. The model I used for this method had loads of room behind the headlamps so was not too difficult a job. The Alfa will clearly be a bit more challenging due to the more confined areas but worth trying something like that.

The paintwork on your Alfa does not look too bad, you could try cutting it back to get rid of the colour stained parts and then touch in the worst chips and high spots. You would then still have a reasonably original model.

Mine was in a similar condition to yours when I got it, although not perfect it does now look passable. Shown below next to an Atlas version:

Sadly I ruined the paintwork on mine when removing the decals.
I used rubbing alcohol and now the paint is merely like a foil and would come off in large sheets if I touch it.

Thus two things were learned:

1. Do not use rubbing alcohol to remove decals.

2. Rubbing alcohol is an excellent paint stripper.

You have done a good purchase. The car is in excelent conditions and the wheels looks as new.
