After much much umming and ahhing, I finally took the plunge and created a facebook 'Group' for rolls-royce toy and model collectors. It is a closed group but is visible to those searching with google, it just means you have to join (no forms, just verbal), the group to be able to comment and post pictures.

The title...The Ghost Cub (UK) is not apparently an obvious connection to rolls-royce but the story behind the title is long and very old now.

Hi Ghostie my wife & i joined Facebook about a month ago, didn't really want to but i suppose we have to go with the flow, handy to catch up with old friends & family. There may be some other matchbox collectors on there that we don't know of Pete.

I also, very reluctantly, created a Facebook account, simply in order to access various fora. However, I do use it for any kind of social interactions whatsoever, and have all personal information hidden.

Hi Pete.

There is indeed other Matchbox collectors on facebook the most well known of them being the Matchbox Collectors Forum (MCF) all doing their own thing usually oblivious to us here on the VBD.

It is a handy place to have access to and I agree with hiding your personal details. I don't even fill-in the field boxes for my details so at the moment all it knows about me is my name and my date of birth (probably enouth really to find out everthing about me!!) and thats how I want to keep it.

your new page is going well mate along with the lone star one I'm involved with
a big advantage is the usually quick responses but a massive down side is that any info and postings can get lost as groups grow and more is added
they cannot replace forums like this but can be a useful addition and with luck draw amore collectors to come and join us here

we have also placed a link for this site on the lone star page and I regularly add it to comments on the various matchbox sites I frequent

One tip in finding previous posts is if every post had a picture it can be easily found by just clicking on 'Photos' tab or if the page has a 'Search' tab (not all do!!), type in something from the comments within the post.
