Diecastmolester's Dinky Molestation

I'm not a rich man and simply can't afford mint examples, but non mint examples I don't like.
I also find the Atlas or De Agostini repops oddly soulless. I want originals.

What I am hence collecting predominantly are the worst examples I can find, so I can restore them without upsetting collectors.
So whenever you see my unrestored Dinkys, keep in mind that for the most part they were deliberately selected for being scruffy.
If they are any good, they were lucky dips and will not be restored.

Here are a few that are way too clean to be restored.

Some really nice examples there and I agree they do not require restoring.

There is some information here http://vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk/for ... inky#p1031 on the 6 Hong Kong Dinky Toys you might find interesting.

Thanks.

I know the story behind the Hong Kong Dinkys, I just wasn't able to obtain the other ones hitherto.

Have some molested examples now.

Oddly I don't seem to have taken a 'before' pic of this one, but it was rough, lemme tellyas.

Beautiful restorations. I especially like the before and after pics!

Thanks for sharing,

Beautiful pics!

I like the restoration pics being a restorer and lover of Dinky toys myself.

I like the Colour of the Vw Bug and the Panhard

What paint do you use for those?

I see they are not the original colours, but I for one do not mind a code 3 build.

The paint on the Panhard actually does quite a good job approximating the original. The photos are a bit misleading.
V Dub is non stock, of course, but have you ever seen a blue metallic one of this vintage in real life?
I use rattle cans from a vast array accumulated over the decades via clearance sales at motor factors.
If I match original colours, it's more coincidence than intent, I love to code 3 my models.

Originality has been forever removed from a few more examples by molestation.

Inevitably ended up like this:
