Aston Martin DB5 resto

Post by B17lover »

Corgi Aston Martin DB5 James Bond 007 restoration. This one's being a lengthy process as I've removed the worst of the casting lines and got all the functions working properly again. Shame that there's a very limited market for restored models that doesn't value them any where near the time taken and materials used :)

An icon model for Corgi, Aston Martin and James Bond collectors.

It is a shame this model was so inflicted with those awful casting lines and is a result of this body being a modified earlier 218 Aston Martin body and because of the James Bond working features was a complicated tooling which made this a very popular model. The body received some minor detail modifications that can not bee seen until you have both versions side by side!

The rebuild has come out so well, this is how I imagine the very first preproduction examples by corgi must have looked.

You are right about the value of well restored or rebuilt models. Very little money for a lot of outlay in time and skill and real money can only be made from restored models of extremely rare items and then collectors are willing to pay for such skills!

Great model you have there and I am sure you are very proud of the work and time you have put into it.
