Hi all, did any body see the Red Victor go through. I didn't like the look of it, too much paint in the rivet & far too much silver trim Pete.

Hi can not find the number but it was sold by Toycarmib it sold for £4386. 83p Dose anybody know when they put the silver trim on, was it before assembly or after. Pete.

It's hard to say without having it in hand, though I'd want a good look at the rivet too, and I know what you mean about the silver paint. I like the optimism of the person who bid $27.27!

I didn't like the baseplate rivet either.
As noted above, the silver trim does look a bit too bright and crisp but, on the other hand, the front bumper has been painted asymmetrically. Would a faker do that?
It's a good question about when in the production process the trim was applied, and I'll check mine when I get home.

I had come to the same conclusion myself, having just examined a few on Ebay. However, you beat me to posting the information.
Whilst looking at 45a Victors, I did notice one with what looks like reinforcement of the tow bar (see close-up below). I've never noticed this before but, since it's on an MW model, it must be an early change. Is this V-ribbing standard on all Victors? It is unclear to me whether it is present on the red model's baseplate (see photo below).

That's interesting. I have three Victors, all in poor condition (I really must remember to upgrade!) This V-shape is reasonably clear on the earliest, with metal wheels and the dash casting. It's just about evident on the second (grey plastic wheels, no windows), but this one has been played with a lot, so it may have been worn away. I can't see it at all on the third (windows, silver plastic wheels) but this one is also very worn. It would be good to hear what others have, but I wonder if the V was present on the earliest and disappeared through wear of the mould. The lucky owners of red Victors may be able to help.

So as not to lead new collectors astray this should perhaps read “yellow Victors with hand applied silver trim was applied before assembly - it goes behind the tow bar and there's no silver on the tongue in the front bumper”. Later yellow models with mask spray silver trim were done after assembly and therefore can have silver trim on the base plate tongue and with or without trim on rear.

The early castings of the 45a fit into the time period of outsourcing of painting models and most models with base plates and wheels got assembled after the body castings were trimmed and returned to the factory.
Castings without base plates and wheels were less likely to be kept by outworkers.

On my 45a yellow model without dashboard brace but with 4 pips has the reinforcing present on the underside of tow hook as it is on all of my models including spw and gpw.
When looking at the underside of tow hook it is not always easy to see square on but if tilted slightly to catch the light the V raised lines are evident.

I have attached a photo of 45a red that is from Christian F and on the bottom model you can see the reinforced outline on the hook.

With reference to the 45a that started the topic the seller also had a 45a Red Vauxhall almost 12 months ago with very similar properties and in stunning condition discussed here.
So this July 2 2019 sale is a second one the seller has sold of late .

In the past 11 months a third red 45a with the same stunning properties came up for sale elsewhere. I have attached a photo of each with similar view and if you study each you will see a slight variation in the trim.
The one on the box is the third known example of this quality and the base view of this model does show the hook reinforcement outline.

Back in the early 80’s there was less than a handful known of 45a red, but numbers found are rising rapidly.
