As many of you know, my lady wife is studying for a psychology degree. She has now got as far as her dissertation and is studying the mental health of informal carers who are caring for someone at home, and what factors are important when it comes to their ability to cope with the associated stress and daily challenges. Her dissertation (“Gendered Psychological Determinants and age for Resilience and Burnout Amongst Informal Dementia Carers”) is focussing on the conceptual model of an informal carer found in Cross, Garip & Sheffield (2018) and the vital role of resilience in this role. This study has been approved by the British Psychological Society Ethical Principles for conducting Research with Human Participants and the University of Derby Policy and Code of Practice on Research Ethics on the 14/05 2019. Confidentiality and identity will be kept at all times during the study by using an identification code, not a name.
If any Member is currently caring for a loved one suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s, and would like to help with this research, please drop me a PM/e-mail with your e-mail address and I will pass your details on to my wife. Similarly, if anyone is a member of an online carer forum, my wife would be grateful for the web address.
All information will, of course, be treated in the strictest confidence in accordance with the British Psychology Society and University of Derby research ethics for human participants.
Please note that you do not need to be UK-based in order to take part.
Thank you!
Informal carers wanted!
Re: Informal carers wanted!
It’s great to know there are people like your wife looking at the carers who look after family and loved ones with mental health illnesses.
Kindest Regards
