Some advice

I’m looking at a couple of Lesney Rolls Royce’s, but I need some advice on what G2 means.

I would think it refers to this set which includes an example of #24 with regular wheels.

It is also possible that the seller is referring to the G2 type box if it is in reference to a superfast number 24 Rolls Royce.
Does the box look like this one attached?

In addition to Kevin’s note above the G2 also came out as a Superfast Transporter Superset gift set also with the Rolls inside.

Thanks guys for being helpful. The model i am referring to is the #69c Rolls Royce with yellow base.

I have now looked at that model with the yellow base and it does indeed mean the type of box with the model.

All the miniature range models were packaged in a design of box for a certain amount of time before a face-lift of the design was done. Once this has happened several times in the overal production period for the range the boxes had to be categorised in a way collectors could identify with for models in their own collections.

So the first design was given the status of 'A' with any minor artwork changes being taken care of by 'A1' etc. A major design change would then be taken care of by the use of the letter 'B' and again this could run to 'B1', 'B2' and 'B3' etc.

By the time the yellow base #69 Rolls-Royce was being retailed the box design was upto the letter 'G' and so a 'G2' box will have minor artwork changes over the 'G1' design.
