Shepton Mallet 9 June 2019
It seemed like a busy fair, and stall holders told me it was going well. I didn't find much, though there's one good find here, and one that is going on a long journey to make someone's grandson happy! It would be a great time to be putting together a new collection of Benbros - there are lots around, at reasonable prices, but they just don't seem to sell.

Hi DrJeep I like the models you have purchased, especially the wrecker trucks.
Kindest Regards

Thanks! The tow trucks aren’t particularly hard to find and these were both just a few pounds. The more unusual items are towards the front.TinTin wrote: I like the models you have purchased, especially the wrecker trucks.

Dr. Jeep
Great selection
Is that a red Drott excavator with silver rollers?
Not too sure about the orange tractor - looks bigger than Matchbox - is it Benbros?

Nice selection there, I'd guess there's silver rollers on the Drott too and the fire engine is nice. I think the crawler tractor is from the Budgie low-loader transport set.

Yes, silver plastic rollers on the Drott. Are these really scarce? There was another one on a different stall too.
John's right - it's the Budgie crawler from the low loader, never released as part of the miniatures range, even though it's obviously the right size. It's a nice model. This is apparently the less common version, with silver plastic rollers and conventional tracks. Here's a comparison with the equivalent Lesneys: It's pretty much the same length as the 8d/18d, but with a longer wheelbase. I think the 8d/18d wheelbase is too short, to use the standard tracks from the 8c/18c (and the Drott too).
Orange was a popular colour for crawler tractors. Here's the Benbros, Matchbox 8a, and Budgie. The Benbros and Matchbox have exactly the same wheelbase.
