Sentinel Steam Waggon Y4-1

Post by Sebastian10 »

This one is part of a job lot. There is no gold trim on the chimney and the chassis side box and no decals. As far as I can see there are no remains of any decals visible. The colour is more of a flatter dull blue compared to my standard example with decals.

Any ideas - is this just a negative variation i.e. have the decals and gold trim been omitted e.g. to save money or maybe one of the factory machines wasn't working that day?

Thanks

Sebastian :)

Models without any trim do turn up occasionally. These early models were sent to "outworkers" working from home to finish. They were paid by weight of models completed and all sorts of tricks were used to bulk out the weight of the bins they returned the finished models in. Bricks or scrap metal would replace models in the bins to make weight, then the unfinished models were either given to the children or chucked in the canal!

Bob

Thanks for the information and the photos

What about the colour? - it is definitely a different shade of blue - not as intense in colour and less glossy than my standard version

Thanks for your help on this one

Sebastian :)
