Great obscure car for Corgi to model and what a good job they did of it.Love the spots front and back..What other car had a Roo lamp.not many I'll wager..

This is one model I had from new and it was great with plenty of play value with it. Later when I grew away from actually playing with my models I started to see them as collectors models and the Hunter to me should have been a civilian car so I started to work on mine to de-rallyfi it and turn it back into a normal road car. My modelling skills at that time were limited but fancied the challenge.

I can not show you how far I got with it, it has been long gone with all my other models when they got stolen, a story I have told here previousely.

Here are some pictures of an original Corgi Hillman Hunter Rally prototype that I once had in my collection - it formerly belonged to the Marcel van Cleemput collection......
Actually it must have been a later version, as the wheels are different, and there are no roof racks and additional lamps.

I sold it many years ago - sigh........

I'm guessing Corgi where going to release it as a stock street car and realised it was'nt that popular so binned it..As I know of there has only been one model od that car and that was a white metal kit a few years back....Shame because I liked them,a sort of Routes version of the MK2 Cortina but I suppose they where getting ready for the next Hillman to hit the streets and that was the Avenger. That didnt get modelled either.

These days we have a Hillman Hunter from Silas Models and the Hillman Avenger from Corgi Vangaurds, both very good models in 43rd scale.
