#37 Karrier Bantam 2 Ton Question

Post by DiecastJunkie »

Having had this in my collection for many years, it sets among the other variants of the 37 and is no where close to those colors or any I have seen. It is not a repaint or custom. It is the uneven load casting, It has metal wheels with crimped axles and does not appear to have ever had the "Coke" decals applied. Any Ideas on this one?

First and foremost, welcome to the Forum.
Second, I think what we need is a comparison shot with some other 37a in order to get a feel for just how different the colour actually is.

Welcome! It's really nice to see new people posting, and your photographs are very clear.

This is an interesting one. It's not the very first casting of the 37a because it has shallower crates on the bottom row. It also looks like it's been painted twice in the factory, which might explain why the paint is so bright and thick.

The 37a comes in a wide range of shades from yellow to orange. As Idris says, it would be good to see this one compared to other 37a Karriers.

Thanks for the welcome, I am really glad to be here as Regular Wheels are my 1st love and thrive on variations. Here are a couple more comparison pictures. I dunno maybe it is me getting old LOL.

Here are some of the other casting that I have gathered up, as you can see I have a place for the orphans that no one wanted because the were not mint.

It looks like it’s in the normal range of colours for the 37a but it’s still hard to tell. Could you put them all in a line and take one picture?

You have both 37a and 37b here. I think the 37b can be a much more lemony yellow than the 37a.

It is a repaint, most likely NOT done by the factory.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Here is the 1st; and 2nd; castings, and looking at DiecastJunkie pictures it looks like the 1st; casing.
This is not a repaint, nor has it been painted twice, I have been informed by a very reliable collector who has some paper work, that some models were sent out to another company that painted (sprayed) them with enamel paint. That is why the paint on this model and DiecastJunkie looks so thick.
