I was inspired by the recent auction for the 30c Turquoise 8 Wheel Crane, which was sold at 2600USD. I would like to remind you that there is a similar rare, overlooked and not yet appreciated variation on 44c Turquoise GMC Refrigerator Truck. The genesis of this variation will probably be similar to that of 30c Faun Crane. One day, the worker accidentally switched two similar green colors, and one batch of 44c refrigerator containers was painted with the paint originally intended for 1e Mercedes Truck.
I think, when this variation comes into the general knowledge, it can also reach the prices between 2000-3000U$.

I agree with Glenn: given the highly variable quality and colour balance of listing photographs on Ebay (not to mention the vagaries of computer screens!), the chances of spotting one of these, unless it is in a group with a 1e/2e Mercedes or a standard 44c, is effectively zero. Toyfair lighting will also be a nightmare, making the use of a comparison model necessary (c.f. 75b Ferrari).
As regards rarity, my understanding is that the turquoise 30c was produced solely for a gift-set issue, meaning that it would be a pretty limited production run. If a whole run of 44c backs were painted in the wrong colour, my gut feeling is that would result in a significantly (10 times?) greater number of finished models. I therefore agree with Glenn's suggestion that this is more likely an overlooked rather than a rare variation. (Remember how many first casting 41a jaguars have been found since we started looking for them?)
