I was thinking of buying a rare Ford GT with red hubs on OFAS but on closer inspction I see that the seller has a zero feedback score plus he has not been registered very long a week at the most..Do any of you think they would take a gamble on such an item?....

Sorry if this is breaking the rules but I thought we might be able to nip this in the bud... :D

This is not my area of expertise, but to me, the tyres don't look as playworn as they should be, compaired to the rest of the model and two tread designs appear to be on the rims, front nearside seem to of a heavier design than the rear nearside tread, looking much finer.

P.S. isn't that Nick's glass table under the model and look at the post code, Essex...!!!

Actually he only registered yesterday lol.
only 23 items for sale ?. come on guys. lets fill it up a bit, your item is automatically relisted if it don't sell, and it only costs a maximum of 30p to sell each item, there's wanted ads too so you can hunt down those pieces missing from your collection.
I'll be putting a few more on tonight so keep checking the site.

You guys are a tough crowd,

I do have a serious question, regarding Nick's comments above. Sure, it would be nice to have more auctions and listings (and "views"); and there are ways I'm sure that each one of us could recommend VBD Auctions to others--I can think of a few ways. But are you--Nick and everyone else currently mods and members of the forum--ready for "regular people" to start buying and selling? I consider you all the cream of the crop, and a special group. (I don't consider myself in that group yet.) If the auction site becomes wildly popular, things will by necessity change.

Anyone know what I mean? And please don't misunderstand... I am very hopeful for an eBay substitute, and I want this to succeed!

Sort of...are you saying...lets keep trusted auctioneers, (forum members) letting them do their thing first, then let in some outsiders, once everything is running smoothly.

Outsiders may of course invite 'Doubtful' auctioneers, only getting into the site for a laugh and a quick Buck, maybe a welcome E-mail to the 'Trusted E-bay sellers' will bring outsiders that can be trusted.

That's my view, at the moment...!

GHOSTHUNTER.

GHOSTHUNTER,

Now you've given me more to think about. I hadn't fleshed out my whole train of thought yet on the subject, but I wasn't advocating being exclusive or letting members "do their thing first." (It never ends anyway in this little hobby, though--right? ;) )

But I guess you've got my point, more or less, and you explained it more clearly. So yeah... what's the consensus: An exclusive auction site, by invitation only and subject to some sort of screening and probationary period; or, the "Wild, Wild West" where one and all are welcome, and where some may be (it's inevitable anyway) of unsavory character?

I trust all of you here now completely. I don't trust everybody, on eBay for instance. Seems to be a bit of a conundrum, as I'm sure Nick and all have considered.

I say "let everyone buy and sell"....That way little nuggets will inevitably pop up now and again. The unsavory characters that we have seen exposed time and time again will think twice when trying it on with an auction site with such obvious expert backup as this one..Unlike Ebay who have no real affinaty with model collectors as such, I would hope the number 1 priority here would be not to grab every penny possible but route out the bad apples and let the decent people deal in peace and safety. After all the name of the site is VINTAGE BRITISH DIECAST AUCTIONS.....I really think it says every thing in the title..

I think Misterpop has it to a tee, let everyone come, that way we should all be able to enhance our collections but working all together we can weed out the fraudsters.
Ebays only concern is the same as all the big corporations, protect their bottom line, Thats why no action is ever taken to expel con men like Tim A but they will soon eject anyone who happens to expose a fraudster saying they have broken the rules by "interfering with an auction".
