Austin Driving School cars

I always found it amusing that Corgi's RHD version of this car was painted in a different shade of blue than the LHD version. I guess that is how they could identify their stock headed for different countries.

They are great looking cars as well...Look at the back of the one on the right how it favors the Ford Consul MK2 ....

Thanks for showing these Bill, I had the light blue one as a child and it gave me great fun, I haven't seen or noticed the darker blue one before.

It's a touch on the small side but I always thought that this is a really nice casting. It's great fun to play with as well! This toy is from before my childhood, and I had the motor school Volkswagen instead, complete with cones which were soon lost. I have a replacement car but not the cones...

Back in the late 80s I repainted a beater for a diorama I was making (sadly never completed due to space issues). It was a left hooker, so I converted it to RHD for my British layout!

It would have been nice if Corgi had made a "standard" A60 Cambridge as well, it's nicer than the Spot-On.

Single body casting, clear windows, red RHD interior including right hand drive SW, two figures, red plastic roof sign which steers front wheels, silver bumpers, grille, headlights and trim, red taillights, L plate decals, suspension, gray diecast base, shaped wheels, rubber tires; same casting as 255-A which is LHD. (Note: Factory errors in driver placement and/or LHD interior known but rare.)
1. Light blue body with silver trim.

255-A Austin A60 Motor School Car 95mm 9/1964-1968
Left hand drive steering wheel, otherwise as 236-A, which is right hand drive and is painted a lighter shade of blue. (Note: Factory errors in driver placement and/or RHD interior known but rare.)
1. Medium blue body with silver trim.
2. German version in dark metallic blue may exist. (confirmation and details needed.)
