G P Beach Buggy - Juniors & Rockets

Hi, Can anyone tell me if the green buggy is a standard issue, The red one is listed as a corgi junior with a white or cream interior but according to ramsays guide the rockets version with the black detachable chassis should also be red with a white interior, not green with a black interior ??????

yup, green w/ black int is standard issue, as is orange w/ black interior.

Hi Nick,

I am not a Corgi expert, but I always saw the red buggy as being the 'Juniors' version, always with hot foiled wheel rims, with some fitted with hot foiled 'Rocket' rims, but mostly with the all black rims because of the conversion into the 'Rockets' models.

I see your red 'Junior' does have the all black rims, this is perfectly normal and is clearly from the conversion period with the 'Rockets'.

The bright green example is partner to a bright orange example and are normally fitted with the all black rims, but in the UK 'Rockets' catalogue, it is shown with hot foiled rims, I can't remember if its a 70 or 71 catalogue, but that does not matter, because there were'nt that many anyway...!

This makes it more desirable then, with the 'Rockets' design of 5 spokes and hot foiled, sorry I did not spot the 'plating' effect on yours,

Hi there Nick,

Looking at the picture again, they look like a medium grey colour, quite a common playworn look on these wheels, where the really bright 'plating' effect, rubs away first, to leave a base colour which for Corgi always seems to be...Grey...!

There is 1 uncommon casting variation on the Rockets issue because the body sills were extended forwards - basically a Juniors body fitted to one of the last Rockets.Never seen nor heard of a Rockets short sill body on a Juniors chassis! The 1:1 was made famous by appearing in the Oscar winning movie ´´the Thomas Crown Affair´´ which may have been the way corgi discovered the subject!
