41b D-Type Jaguar - unlisted variation?

I think the 41b with fine tread (10x36) grey plastic wheels is fairly unusual, so I was pleased to find this one.

I think it's also an unlisted variation: both Stannard and Nick list this only with the second base, which has a ridge at the rear but not at the front.

Unless I'm mistaken, this one has the first base, with ridges front and rear. It seems a plausible variation, as this base is certainly on wire-wheeled versions too. This is the third body, with the long braces on the rivets (now that's a variation that's really hard to see).

Very nice finding Glenn, and in rather nice condition too.
The 41b has many variations so I restricted myself years ago to only looking for 5 main variants and the 36 tread count has been one where all the stars have not been aligned to acquire.
As a collector who likes to find casting changes (as per casting lines front and back) finding this with fine tread would be a bonus
I see this one would fit nicely at code NJ6a or a Stannard 6a.
If you agree, I think this is either worth copying or moving to the previously catalogued variation section to keep all new findings together.

ps..there is a white section on the very front rhs, is that the remnants of a decal perhaps?

My one with 10 x 36 tread and this too has the same type "A" base as your one.

Thanks, George. I think yours is the only other one with fine tread wheels pictured on VBD, so it's really interesting that they're both the same.

Yes - well spotted, and a bit on the side too. I think it's most likely that a previous owner managed to do this, but I suppose it could be a factory error.
