Lesney Petrol Tanker

Post by MINX »

I have two petrol tankers which I think are both Lesney - Both Red in colour
One is 63mm in length and is identified as Lesney, Made in England, No 11
The other is the same visually but is "hollow" and only has "Made in England" in the "hollow", This one is only 51mm in length

I would appreciate it if anybody could give me some information on these models
Many thanks

The smaller, hollow model is the first issue at no. 11, which collectors call model 11a.
The larger, numbered model is the second model to be issued as no. 11, which collectors now refer to as model 11b.
Further information on the 11a can be found here, and on the 11b here.

Many thanks for your quick response to this query.

Maybe you could help me with some further information?
If I was going to repaint them, is there a specific colour that I should look for, or just try and match the red?

Thanks

The Benbros tankers often get confused with 11a's too
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
