Military repairs

Post by zBret »

It seems these models often end up with bits broken or missing and a few that I have, were no exception. So, I set about to repair them.
With a bit of copper wire and good old JB Weld epoxy, I was able to make, a new turret for the 54a, a new trailer hitch for the 62a and a new boom tip and eyelets, as well as a hook, for the 64a. the models are still in primer but I am thinking of painting them up in the RAF color of the 73a Pressure refueler.

They look great - though I’m not sure about an RAF armoured car...

Very nice work, they look great. The RAF did use armoured cars but did they use personnel carriers? :)

They look like they could belong in a gift-set, perhaps with a transporter carrying a plane or helicopter :)

Thanks :) they were saved from the beater box ;)
Here's a few before pics and some showing a bit more detail on the wrecker truck tow hook and eyelets that I made, which were fashioned out of copper wire.

Some nice handywork there Gene, something I am famaliar with but not on small models like Matchbox, I work on the larger Corgi, Dinky sized models so I do admire the guys here working wonders on these small models and bringing new life back to some of them.
