Why so much Red 11a?

Post by hydra427 »

Can anyone shed some light on why this Red 11a went for so much money. Just curious if I am missing something or if it was a battle between two people that really wanted it.

Thanks, John

I can only assume it is the overall condition that two bidders went for.

The combination of excellent condition and trimmed tank lids might give rise to a premium being paid - but not that big a premium!

I find this bizarre. There are numerous flea-bite chips, it has the larger Esso decal but that's chipped too. It's the sort of price I'd expect a decent green one to fetch or one with side decals.

There must be a story here. Two bidders each made 17 bids - on-line rivals? Unless there's something we're missing.

Yet the item description says it has the "small decal." Is it possible the bidders are thinking they got the more rare small decal variation when in reality they just got ripped off for a not mint common model.
