I picked up some store displays , one of which is the more standard wooden MOY display, but the other two are radiator shaped displays, one free standing with a cardboard back and the other , the mounted on a metal storage back similar in size to wooden ones. I think they are pretty cool looking and can't wait to unpack my cars from storage and fill them up.

I have not come across those before and was wondering if these are common or not? Do I have a rare find?

Essentially any 'Store Display' is rare because once Lesney introduced the next season of new Yesteryear models the displays were often replaced with newer versions and the older type gets destroyed, no need to keep them for anything!

I look forward to seeing them with models.

The Radiator Displays are hard to find in good condition, they are usually split and cracked. Yours look fine, and I am very envious as I've been after the top one for ever.
The bottom one is a very robust unit, and I have one of these. There are two different sets of labels for these, and yours is the same as mine with the 3 spare spaces bottom right.



The other label set suits the early "straw" box models as it has two sections for Y5 Talbot, two for Y12 Model T plus Y18 Cord.


Some models in this one found on the net are incorrect.

A really nice shop display and great pictures.

I have 2 holes in the back of my radiator display so it hangs on the wall.

The "radiator" one is simply awesome.
Just makes wanting collect these models.

I remember seeing the radiator displays in shops in the U.S. just at the start of the Woodgrain era. Then Matchbox started shipping the Hispano Suiza-Y-17 and the shop owners did not know what to do with the display because it only had 16 spaces. I think the Duesenberg was also too big for the spaces when released a little later. I have the larger display and I use it to bring pre-pros, color trials and other unusual pieces to our Illinois Matchbox Collectors Club Meetings for display before we sell them off.

Many years ago I visited Dirk Schleuer and saw his collection.
He had a custom made wooden/glas display around the radiator display.

I liked the idea and contacted a timber craftsman who made this for me also.

The choice of models in those displays are based in how these displays are pictured in the right time period dealer catalogues.
